Registration

   

Whether you play out of Chéticamp, Inverness, Baddeck, Mabou, or Port Hood you are either a member of the Cape Breton West Minor Hockey Association, or the Quad County Female Hockey Association. For Cape Breton West programs you will need a GrayJay account to register. For local Recreational hockey you will need a Hockey Canada Registry (HCR / Sprodle) account to register. Registration for 2025-2026 is now open.

New to Cape Breton West?

Preseason Development

Cape Breton West hosts Preseason Development sessions for U9-U18 in September, open to all Competitive and Recreational players, and run by our Development Coordinator Keenan GIllis. These sessions help prepare players for the upcoming season. Each group has 3 x 1 hour ice sessions for $30. Registration closes September 1st. Please note these sessions are not suitable for players new to hockey/skating.

Competitive Team Evaluations

Cape Breton West holds Competitive Team Evaluations for U9-U18 in September/October for players interested in joining a Competitive Team roster – U9 Advancing, U11 AA and A, U13 AAA and A, U15 AA and A, and U18 AA. Overseen by Development Coordinator Keenan Gillis, each group has 4 ($50) to 7 ($75) sessions. Registration closes September 1st.

Recreational Teams

Players looking to play Recreational hockey for U7-U18 in Trail (Chéticamp), Inverness, Westside (Mabou, Port Hood), and Baddeck can register in their local community. Fees will be collected by their local association.

Coaches and Volunteers

Coaches and Volunteers for all levels on Recreational and Competitive teams must meet the volunteer requirements for their age group and position, and must register in their local community to be added to a roster.

There are several options for players in need to obtain financial assistance.
